Excellium evolved naturally through investing — beginning as a principal real estate investor in Portugal in 2009 and, step by step, becoming an international private markets platform.
Excellium began in 2009 as a private investment group acquiring below-market-value real estate across Portugal. The business was built first as a principal investor — acquiring, repositioning and managing assets directly.
That investment activity expanded into hospitality ownership and operations, regulated investment management interests in Portugal, UK advisory capability, Luxembourg issuance and, most recently, an Asia-Pacific capital markets presence centred on Singapore.
Excellium Capital was established in 2009 as a private investment group focused on acquiring below-market-value real estate opportunities across Portugal. Operating initially as a principal investor, the business acquired, repositioned and managed assets directly, establishing the long-term investment philosophy that continues to underpin the group today.
As the portfolio expanded, Excellium developed interests beyond investment into ownership and operations. This included hospitality ownership, hotel operations and broader private markets activity across Portugal.
As the business matured, Excellium developed interests in regulated investment management infrastructure in Portugal to support its growing investment activities.
The group expanded internationally through FCA-regulated advisory capability in the United Kingdom via Bristol York. This strengthened Excellium’s capital markets capability and cross-border investor relationships.
Recognising the growing need for institutional structuring infrastructure, Excellium established Excellium Securities in Luxembourg. The platform enables the structuring and issuance of institutional securities referencing alternative investments through a Luxembourg securitisation framework.
Today Excellium is establishing Singapore as its Asia-Pacific capital markets hub. Excellium Capital Markets represents the next stage of the group’s evolution, combining Asian origination with European institutional structuring and international capital formation.
Excellium was not created to manufacture investment products. It was built through investing its own capital, acquiring and operating real assets and solving increasingly complex cross-border investment challenges.
As those activities expanded internationally, so too did the infrastructure supporting them.
Today Excellium selectively makes that infrastructure available to specialist investment managers and sponsors seeking institutional structuring, international capital formation and long-term strategic partnership.
